If confirmed that could spell the end to Venezuelas current regime, with the power-vaccum created chaos giving an ideal pre-text for a US invasion. It also means that for the US significant escalation are on the table where diplomacy does not succeed. This should be very worrying to everyone following the shift in Washington's rethoric towards Europe and China.
Still Maduro was not exactly a good guy. Should Venezuela come out of this regime change more open to the western world, with sanctions lifted, that would mean a net positive
