Hydrogen power electrifies the energy sector, as a gigantic growth market is emerging after the political course of renewable energies has been set. The EU plans to run its economies fully on renewable energies by 2065. Until then, companies from the energy sector try maintaining a prime position in this growing market. $SGRE.MC, for example, is starting a pilot project in Denmark, while its mother company $SIE.DE (Siemens Aktiengesellschaft) is implementing a demonstration project with $PAH3.DE (Porsche Automobil Holding SE) in Chile. Common features of both projects are hydrogen in connection with wind energy. Pilot project Denmark The wind turbine manufacturer plans to install the first system that can produce green-hydrogen directly with a wind turbine in a closed-loop – which means, without the turbine being connected to the grid. This is a strategic step towards large-scale production of green hydrogen. The pilot project is currently being implemented in Brande, western Denmark, and includes a 3 MW turbine. The first test runs are planned for December 2020 and hydrogen production is scheduled to begin by January 2021. When fully operational, the project's turbine can produce enough hydrogen to run around 50-70 cars with zero emissions. Pilot project Chile Together with several international companies, Siemens is developing and implementing an eFuel project in Chile. The aim is to build the first integrated and commercial large-scale plant for the production of synthetic, climate-neutral fuels, so-called eFuels, using green hydrogen. In the pilot project, a Siemens Gamesa wind turbine with a capacity of more than 3 MW will be used. In the current pilot phase, around 130,000 litres of eFuels are to be produced until 2022. The plan is to increase capacity in two steps to around 55 million litres of eFuels by 2024 and to around 550 million litres of eFuels per year by 2026. German car producer Porsche is the main consumer of green fuel ($GER30), others are the energy company $AME (AMETEK Inc) and $ENEL.MI (Enel Power Company) from Italy. In my opinion hydrogen, among others, plays a crucial role, when it comes to the goal of achieving 100% renewable energies and – in the end - solve the climate crisis. And combating climate change is one of the most urgent goals of our societies. Photo: Ionity/Porsche Have a good evening! Björn
