𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵𝗹𝘆 𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲 - 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟭 𝗝𝘂𝗹𝘆 Gains this year: +1,32% Gains this month: -0,34% Average Risk Score: 3 Profitable weeks: 70,00% 𝗗𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗳𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗙𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝘀 This monthly update looks quiet similar to the weekly update from last week as the last week of July was the one that most heavily defined the whole month. We had strong up moves followed by strong down moves throughout the whole month. The last week of July ended with a +1,60% (roundabout) gain and left us with a total gain of -0,34%. The market was very volatile in my opinion as Chinese stocks also affected the economy as a whole. My max. draw-down is still a modest -2,57% but with a look back at the events of March 2020, it easily can grow up to 2 digits in a global crisis. My plan is to secure my position and keep my solid money management through such phases. 𝘯𝘰𝘵𝘦: 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘢𝘵𝘵𝘢𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘥 𝘪𝘮𝘢𝘨𝘦 𝘪𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘢𝘮𝘦 𝘢𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘦𝘦𝘬𝘭𝘺 𝘶𝘱𝘥𝘢𝘵𝘦‘𝘴 𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘭𝘢𝘴𝘵 𝘸𝘦𝘦𝘬 𝘢𝘴 𝘯𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘩𝘢𝘴 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘥 𝘪𝘯 𝘣𝘦𝘵𝘸𝘦𝘦𝘯. 𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝗲𝗻𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁... 𝗟𝗲𝘁‘𝘀 𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗸 𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗳𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗼. Between the end of July and the start of August we had solid gains and because eToro calculates risk in both ways (not only downwards), our risk score rose to 4. My goal is to have it between 2 and 3, so I may lower my exposure to the market to flatten it out. Currently I traded a total of 70 times. Because I‘m looking for trends and exit when trends weaken I don‘t see the point in sticking too long with a single stock (besides when it really trends strongly). My longest held position is GILD which I held since the very start of my portfolio. This is the perfect example as to holding just because of it may not always be the best approach since it never touched my predefined bounds. I will keep holding it as I also did not get any exit signals yet. On the other hand we have PFE which I bought right at the start of the current big rally. It goes to show how different some stocks do over the same time-period. I will proceed with my current strategy and fine-tune my exits for better performance this month.
