💲💲💲💲 ALWAYS STICK TO THE STRATEGY 💲💲💲💲 October update Dear copiers and followers, Sadly, October was another difficult month, both for us and the market. We ended up losing to all 3 major indexes but beat Russel 2000. We ended the month with a loss of 4,45%. When we compare our return for October to the major US indexes, we underperformed the market: NASDAQ: -2,08%, SP500 -2,2%, DJI -1,36% and Russel 2000 -6,88%. The primary benchmark is the S&P500 and Russel 2000 the secondary as we have a lot of smaller stocks in our portfolio. With that in mind, we didn’t do well against SP500 as we underperformed by 2,25%, but at least we outperformed Russel 2000 by 2,43%. When we compare the YTD numbers we are during well compared to 3 of the 4 indexes, with NASDAQ still way ahead of us: NASDAQ: 31,72%, SP500 9,23%, DJI -0,28% and Russel -5,62%. At the same time, we are at 11,41%. While we are still way ahead of DOW and Russel, we are now only about 2,2% better than the S&P and way behind NASDAQ – lagging it about 20%. We do not buy fast growing tech stocks, as the strategy is based on value investing – buying good value at great prices. Therefore, when the NASDAQ has its best 1st half of the year ever, it is natural that we are behind the NASDAQ. However, with the huge loss in NASDAQ last year, we are clearly ahead as we are pretty close to all time high and NASDAQ still has some work to do to reach that. Making steady profits is one of the characteristics of a good value strategy. While it certainly can be frustrating to see the value of the portfolio go nowhere or even decline – as has been the case since February, we don’t allow it to affect our strategy. We simply stick to the same plan: changing up to 2 of our investments every month, unless we still like them – in that case we just keep holding them. No panicking, no losing faith in the strategy, whatever come, we will simply wait it out and get through.
