What the failed assassination attempt on Donald Trump means for the US election and the stock market At an election rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday evening at around 6.15 pm local time, Donald Trump was shot in the ear in an assassination attempt. The 20-year-old shooter was registered as a Republican but, according to CNN, donated a small amount of money to a Democratic-affiliated political action committee in 2021. I assume that the failed assassination attempt will greatly increase Donald Trump's election campaign chances. Since the storming of the Capitol, Trump supporters have tended to be seen as radical and potentially violent. Now Trump can point to radical forces among his political opponents that need to be combated and stylize himself as a martyr. However, the assassination attempt also increases the risk of civil war in the USA in the wake of the US election. I had previously assumed that this risk only existed in the event of Trump's defeat ("they stole the vote"), but apparently there are also people among the liberals who are prepared to use violence. We should therefore be prepared for riots and considerable consequences for the US stock market even if Trump wins the election. $WM (Waste Management Inc) $RSG (Republic Services Inc) $ABBN.ZU (ABB LTD) $MA (Mastercard) $V (Visa)
