💡 𝗤𝘂𝗶𝗰𝗸 𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁 𝘂𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲 💡 A lot of interesting things are happening at the moment, so here are the top two I have in mind for today: 📌 𝗜𝗻𝗳𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗮 (again, sorry!) The 𝗨𝗦 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗲𝗿 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗲𝘅 (PPI) 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗲 was released yesterday (screenshot) and 𝗰𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀. It also 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗱 𝗮 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝘃𝘀 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗣𝗜 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗿'𝘀 ("𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗲𝗿") 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 (ex: how much does a factory pay now for their raw goods before transforming them). It's an important metric for inflation, as it can signal future changes in consumer prices. This combined with the CPI data released on Tuesday and also below expectations are encouraging signs for the US economy - but to take with a pinch of salt as the uncertainty on energy prices keep looming. 📌 𝗤𝟮 𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗔𝗦𝗠𝗟 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝗦𝗠𝗖: Both $ASML (ASML Holding NV) and $TSM (Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co Ltd - ADR) reported Q2 earnings this week, 𝗯𝗼𝘁𝗵 𝘀𝗺𝗮𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀. However, the share price of both have weakened post earnings, as expectations for semiconductor stocks are sky-high. I think this is a 𝗴𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗻𝗲𝘄𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝘄𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻𝘀: 📌 The 𝗔𝗜 𝗻𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗹-𝗼𝗻 📌 The 𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 rather than just running hot non-stop, which I find quite 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 $NFLX (Netflix, Inc.) are reporting earnings tonight; the stock is on my watchlist although I've not decided to jump in yet.
