Georgios Papadimitriou
I am very happy to be able to actually speak with you after so many months of being unable to post for no understandable reason. For some reason first my pinned post and then every post i made or every answer i gave seemed to vanish. Even though I could see your questions for the most part I couldn't answer them. Thank God i could still trade. My instagram profile is @ isbellerazors so you can contact me in case something weird like this etoro black swan event on my profile happens again. 2021 (up till now) has been by far my worst year in terms of returns mainly for these reasons: 1. Gold, precious metals and miners performed very badly this year and that I couldn't foresee after so much money printing going on. i believe the prices are kind of manipulated as large institutions and investment banks have been selling paper certificates keeping the prices low and hoarding physical bullion (Hmm, i wonder why...?). Another reason why I believe this is happening is retail investors choosing to pile into crypto as an "inflation hedge" and not favoring the metals as much, 2. Secondly, our portfolio was decently exposed to the Chinese market (and still is) which took a beating like nothing else due to the reasons we're all aware of. Regardless, i find a lot of value in this market and 80% of the time to buy is in crisis mode similar to this one. 3. Most of my $%^%& shorts were terrible. Well, more like "terrible". I don;t know maybe i am stupid and can;t value companies like Tesla correctly but i'm pretty sure buying stock at x 500 earnings is at least dangerous. Maybe I didnt account for new people entering this bull market not knowing the price or scale of the paranoia they are paying for. Maybe investing nowadays is "i believe company X and Y are the best i'll pay anything for it". Or again, as I said earlier, maybe i am as stupid as can be. 4. Throughout this year I have been more focused on not losing than actually making money. I believe this could have truly been a mistake because it is kind of like timing the market but the things that made sense to me to invest in stayed behind and other 'hype stocks" still keep trading at extreme multiples having like 2000 years of growth already priced in.. Anyway, these were my thoughts after a long time. Happy to be able to share my thoughts again! ;D - Stay Green -
