Wise under money-laundering investigation When I completed my due diligence on Wise I loved everything but the weaker regulatory framework, opening the door to AML scrutiny. I wrote it as such on eToro. After a while I moved ahead and bought it anyway. Why? Other banking / neobank groups have been under similar situations. Think of Revolut especially or N26. Weaker AML controls is a default setting in a less regulated environment. Remember good old Charlie: you want ants, put sugar down. There are a range of outcomes in terms of gravity of the shortcomings and also a range lf outcomes for the severity of the regulatory enforcement. I will not make predictions since it is not known how bad things can be. Regulators prefer to address shortcomings but fines are always on the table. Time will tell. I remain close to this issue.
