Trading is done entirely over the electronic media and thus it is vital that a day trader has a high speed Internet connection to work with. Your data has to be faster and better for you to be an effective day trader. Real time data feed is a requirement for day traders that cannot be ignored.
As any serious day trader can appreciate you need a back up system so that if ever your computer crashes you are not completely wiped out. This can be done through an Internet backup connection. Another solution is to have your system wired so that there is another Internet connection that can be activated as required.

The computer set up for day trading has to be kept as simple as possible. The software load has to be at a minimal level so that the system resources are not taken up by them and hampers your trading. In addition, it is also advisable to have anti virus software as well as Microsoft Office.
