Role Summary
The Deputy CCO will be central to delivering the execution layer of the US compliance function - managing regulatory examinations and audits, developing and maintaining the policy framework, and driving the compliance monitoring program that underpins everything the function does. The CCO holds primary accountability for regulatory relationships and strategic direction; the Deputy CCO plays a critical role in ensuring the operational delivery that supports that strategy.
The right candidate will be technically rigorous, operationally disciplined, and commercially aware - someone who understands that strong compliance process and commercial agility are not in tension. They will also be a credible number two: capable of standing in for the CCO, engaging directly with regulators, and contributing to the wider Group compliance function.
Role location and working style:
This is position is based in New York with an in-office and hybrid set up. Remote set up is not possible.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting the CCO in discharging their obligations across eToro's US-registered entities, acting as deputy and covering the CCO's responsibilities in their absence.
- Managing regulatory examinations and audits end-to-end — coordinating responses to SEC, FINRA, FinCEN and other regulatory inquiries, handling information requests, and ensuring the business presents itself effectively throughout.
- Taking primary responsibility for the US compliance policy framework — drafting, maintaining, and implementing compliance policies and procedures that are up to date, risk-based, and fit for a fast-scaling business.
- Delivering the US compliance monitoring program — designing and executing the annual monitoring plan, tracking and remediating findings, and providing clear reporting to the CCO and senior management.
- Supporting regulatory reporting obligations, including FINRA filings and SEC reporting requirements, in close coordination with the US AML Compliance Officer who holds primary responsibility for AML/BSA and SAR obligations. eToro USA LLC is registered with FinCEN as a Money Services Business; the Deputy CCO will maintain awareness of applicable MSB compliance obligations and support the broader AML/BSA framework accordingly.
- Providing practical, commercially aware compliance guidance to business teams — translating regulatory requirements into clear, actionable guidance that enables rather than obstructs.
- Contributing to the compliance dimension of eToro's AI initiatives in the US — supporting the development of the regulatory framework around AI-powered products and features, and helping to navigate the boundary between information-only services and regulated investment advice.
- Collaborating with the Group compliance function to ensure consistency of approach, alignment on policy standards, and sharing of best practice across jurisdictions.
- Contributing to the development of the US compliance team — mentoring junior team members and helping to build a function that is capable, commercially connected, and recognized as a genuine partner to the business.
Requirements
- Solid experience in a compliance role within a US-regulated financial services firm — broker-dealer, RIA, fintech, or crypto-asset is a must.
- Strong working knowledge of the US regulatory landscape: SEC, FINRA, FinCEN, BSA/AML, OFAC, and relevant state-level requirements, including the compliance obligations applicable to a FinCEN-registered Money Services Business. Working knowledge of the evolving regulatory framework for digital assets and crypto-asset services is essential.
- Demonstrable experience managing regulatory examinations and audits — from initial information requests through to findings management and remediation.
- Hands-on experience drafting and maintaining compliance policies and procedures, and running compliance monitoring programs.
- Commercial awareness and business instinct — an understanding that the compliance function's job is to enable the business to grow with confidence, not to default to caution.
- The ability to work effectively alongside senior leadership — to communicate with clarity and authority, and to build trust across legal, product, finance, and the wider business.
- Strong AI literacy and genuine enthusiasm for working in an organization where AI is central to the product and operational model — the Deputy CCO must be comfortable engaging with AI tools directly and forming views on their regulatory implications.
- Strong people skills and the ability to develop junior team members, build collaborative relationships across the business, and influence without authority.
