The iShares PHLX Semiconductor ETF is an exchange traded fund which seeks to track the investment results of the ICE Semiconductor Index. This index is composed of various US equities in the semiconductor and semiconductor equipment sectors, which may include companies of different sizes involved in the design, manufacture, and distribution of semiconductors. This fund is managed by BlackRock, a well-known financial company established in 1997 that offers a wide range of ETFs and other financial products to a worldwide audience.
This ETF aims to provide highly targeted access to domestic semiconductor stocks. As of December 2021, the fund had 30 holdings, mainly within the information technology sector. As is generally the case with ETFs, the fund invests 80% or more of its assets in the component securities of its index, and in investments that have identical economic characteristics to the component securities of its index. The fund may also invest up to 20% of its assets in other assets, including cash and cash derivatives.
The distribution frequency of this fund is quarterly, and the base currency is USD. The iShares PHLX Semiconductor ETF is listed on the NASDAQ stock exchange where it trades under the ticker SOXX.
