Ackermans & Van Haaren NV, also known as AvH, is a Belgian holding company that was founded in 1876. AvH operations are split into Energy & Resources, Marine Engineering & Contracting, Private Banking, and Real Estate & Senior Care. The company’s operations are scattered throughout Europe, located in Belgium, Luxembourg, the UK and several countries in Central Europe. Avh owns several different companies, including Leasinvest Real Estate, Bank J. Van Breda & C, JM Finn, Algemene Aannemingen Van Laere and more.

Avh has been a publicly-traded company since 1999. Company stock is listed as ACKB on the Euronext exchange and is also part of the BEL20, a benchmark index that comprises up to 20 Belgian companies that are traded on the Euronext.

Despite its prestigious status, Avh started out as a dredging company. Dredging is a procedure where materials are removed from an existing body of water to improve its condition in terms of health and cleanliness. Avh is still active in the dredging industry via its 50% stake in DEME., a Belgian dredging company that was founded in 1991.
