Amplifon SpA is an Italian healthcare company providing hearing aids and customer care services to patients with hearing impairments. The firm was founded in 1950 by an Englishman living in Italy, who was one of the pioneers of early electronic hearing aid development. It is based in Milan but serves an international client base. Amplifon engages in diagnosing hearing difficulties and the fitting and maintenance of hearing aids, working through Amplifon clinics in various locations across Europe and the rest of the world, including the Middle East, Africa and the Americas.
The company trades under the ticker AMP on the BrsaItaliana. As of November 2020, the AMP share price showed a 52-week low of €14.83 and a 52-week high of €36.54. In 2006, Amplifon acquired The Ultravox Group, an established and trusted UK brand and a leading dispenser of hearing aids, in a £64.5m deal.
In 1971 the company founded the Centre for Research and Studies (CRS), a non-profit organisation engaged in supporting scientific and clinical research projects to understand hearing loss and hearing impairment. The centre is still a provider of various services to healthcare providers and hearing aid specialists worldwide. Amplifon has over 5,700 specialist hearing impairment clinics and centres in more than 20 countries across the globe.
