Launched on 17 December 2007, iShares JP Morgan USD Emerging is an exchange traded fund overseen by BlackRock, Inc. This ETF follows the performance of investments in its benchmark, the J.P. Morgan EMBI Global Core Index, which comprises bonds issued by governments in developing countries with external debts. These bonds, denominated in US dollars, are traded as debt instruments.
The variety of economies from which the bonds are issued makes it challenging to track their investment performance. The J.P. Morgan EMBI Global Core Index facilitates such tracking. By following this benchmark, the iShares JP Morgan USD Emerging ETF gives investors access to the sovereign debt of developing market economies and customise their emerging markets portfolios for a potentially higher yield.
The fund’s policy is to invest the majority of its resources in the mix of securities composing the J.P. Morgan EMBI Global Core Index. The rest of the fund’s assets are then invested in a variety of financial derivatives, cash, and cash equivalents. The fund’s base currency is the US dollar. The iShares JP Morgan USD Emerging ETF is listed on the NASDAQ exchange and trades using the ticker EMB.
