Interactive Brokers Group Inc. is an automated deep discount electronic brokerage offering online trading of stocks, options, futures and currencies. The group operates across approximately 120 electronic exchanges and market centres worldwide. The company can trace its history to 1977 when chairperson Thomas Peterffy became a member of the American Stock Exchange (AMEX) trading as an individual market maker in equity options. He formed T.P & Co, which became Timber Hill in 1982, and eventually The Interactive Brokers Group in 2001. The firm is headquartered in Greenwich, Connecticut with offices in Switzerland, Canada, Hong Kong, the UK, Australia, Hungary, Russia, Japan, India, China, and Estonia.

The company is engaged in providing investment solutions to hedge and mutual funds, registered investment advisors, proprietary trading groups, and individual investors. The firm conducts its broker/dealer business in more than 135 market destinations across the globe, offering direct access trade execution and clearing services to both institutional and professional traders for a wide variety of electronically traded products.

Interactive Brokers Group Inc. is regulated by the SEC, FINRA, NYSE, FCA and other regulatory authorities around the world. The firm trades on the NASDAQ under the stock ticker IBKR.
