Remy Cointreau (RCO.PA) is a French cognac, spirits and liqueurs business born out of the 1990 merger between E. Rémy Martin & Cie SA and Cointreau & Cie SA. Listed on the Paris Euronext stock exchange, Remy Cointreau is part of the CAC Mid 60 index, comprised of the second 60 largest companies in France by market capitalisation.
The company owns a number of emblematic alcohol brands, including the Remy Martin and Louis XIII cognacs, St. Remy brandy, Cointreau liqueur and METAXA ouzo. In 2012, the company moved into the whisky market through the acquisition of the Bruichladdich, Octomore and Port Charlotte Scotch whisky brands. The company also owns the unique Domaine des Hautes Glaces brand - an organic single malt whisky distilled in the French Alps.
Remy Cointreau also owns its own international distribution network, selling its brands directly into retail and service industry customers, as well as managing local distribution partnerships. The company’s own distribution network was set up in 2009 after it withdrew from Vin and Spirit, the distribution network that Maxxium, another distribution network which Remy Cointreau founded alongside Edrington and Fortune Brands in 1999, had joined forces with in 2001.
