The company is domiciled in Bermuda and headquartered in Akron, Ohio, and operates mainly in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, the Republic of Ireland, and the Channel Islands. The company has been in operation since 1950.

The firm sells its jewellery via approximately 2,800 stores around the world, primarily under the banners of Kay Jewellers, Zales, Jared, Diamonds Direct, H.Samuel, Ernest Jones, Peoples, Piercing Pagoda, Rocksbox and JamesAllen.com. The firm’s line of diamond jewellery includes engagement rings, wedding rings and anniversary gifts. The firm also sells fashion jewellery and watches.

The firm operates around 1,200 stores under the Kay Jewellers brand, over 650 stores under the Zale name, and various other stores under regional banners. Signet also has more than 150 stores in Canada, primarily under the Peoples Jewellers name. In the UK the firm has about 500 stores under the H. Samuel and Ernest Jones brand names. The firm is listed on the NYSE where it trades under the stock ticker SIG.
