Sopra Steria was founded in 2014 due to a merger between Sopra Group SA and Groupe Steria SCA. Also known as Sopra Steria Group SA, the company is based in Annecy, France. Sopra Steria provides IT consulting services, primarily for financial businesses, the public sector, retail, and telecom. Sopra Steria offers clients full turnkey services, including application solutions, outsourcing services, and technical support.
Sopra Steria is traded as SOP.PA on the Euronext Paris and is part of the CAC Mid 60 Index. Both Sopra and Steria were listed before their 2014 merger. Sopra was listed on the Paris stock exchange in 1990, while Steria was listed on the same exchange one decade later.
Despite half a century passing from the time of their founding to their eventual merger, both Sopra and Steria have taken similar paths. Sopra was established in 1968 as a programming and analysis company. Steria was founded in 1969 as a multinational IT services provider. The reasoning behind the 2014 merger was the desire of both companies to create a leading European technology firm.
