Founded in 2003, TAL has its headquarters in Beijing, China.

Formerly known as Xueersi, TAL provides its tutoring services primarily through small class services under the Mobby, Xueersi, and Firstleap brand names. The company also offers personalised premium services through the Izhikang brand and consulting services on overseas studies through the Shunshun Liuxue brand. Its Haoweilai brand provides additional services. In addition, the company operates jzb.com, an online education platform that provides online courses through xueersi.com, as well as other websites for specific topics and offerings.

TAL Education Group stock is listed on the NYSE under the ticker TAL. As of February 2020, TAL has approximately 45,000 employees around the world. As of February 2021, the company manages approximately 1,098 learning centres in 109 cities throughout China and in one city within the United States.
