DexCom was founded in 1999 by John F. Burd and has released several versions of its devices with improved communications, sensors, and calibrations. The company's products include DexCom G6, a glucose monitoring system that can be integrated with other medical devices, and DexCom Share, a remote monitoring system that uses a mobile app to transmit glucose information to the cloud, where it can then be sent to up to five recipients. DexCom owns several key subsidiaries: TypeZero Technologies LLC, Nintamed GmbH & Co. KG, DXCM Sweden AB, and SweetSpot Diabetes Care, Inc. In 2008, Dexcom signed several partnerships to promote development. These included those with Insulet Corporation, Animas Corporation, and Edwards Lifesciences. In 2015, DexCom entered into an agreement with Tandem Diabetes Care, Inc.
The company trades on the NASDAQ using the ticker DXCM. The firm acquired Australasian Medical & Scientific Ltd (AMSL) and New Zealand Medical & Scientific Ltd (NZMS) in August 2021, with the goal of providing goods and services in the allergy, diabetes, medical, point of care/diagnostics, regenerative medicine, and scientific segments.
