SPDR Gold GLD

The SPDR Gold ETF is an exchange traded fund that aims to offer investors an innovative, relatively cost efficient and secure way to access the gold market. The fund has been trading since 2004, and is the largest physically backed gold exchange traded fund in the world. The fund is managed by State Street Global Advisors, the asset management division of State Street Corporation, which is a major wealth management and investment firm headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts.

The investment objective of SPDR Gold Trust is for SPDR Gold Shares to reflect the performance of the price of gold bullion, less the fund's expenses. For many investors, the costs associated with buying shares in this ETF in the secondary market and the payment of the fund's ongoing expenses may be lower than the costs associated with buying, storing and insuring physical gold in a traditional allocated gold bullion account.

The trustee of the fund is BNY Mellon Asset Servicing, and the custodian of the physical gold is HSBC Bank. The SPDR Gold exchange traded fund is listed on the NYSE where it trades under the stock ticker GLD.
