Inovio Pharmaceuticals Inc is a biotechnology company founded in June 1983. Headquartered in Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania, and serving a worldwide client-base, it specialises in the discovery, development and sales of cutting-edge DNA medicines for the treatment of severe and life-threatening illnesses.

Inovio’s aims to treat human papilloma virus (HPV), various cancers and infectious diseases. Inovio was the first biotech company to clinically demonstrate the effective delivery of DNA medicines directly into the body’s cells using its proprietary smart device. The company has also been involved in the development of a coronavirus vaccine. The company’s product pipeline includes three types of product candidates: prophylactic DNA vaccines, DNA encoded monoclonal and bispecific antibodies and therapeutic DNA immunotherapies. Inovio’s integrated platform includes SynCon to create optimised plasmids and Cellectra smart delivery devices which facilitate the uptake of DNA medicines into the cells.

Inovio Pharmaceuticals Inc.’s stock is traded on the NASDAQ stock exchange under the ticker INO. In June 2009, Inovio Pharmaceuticals merged with VGX Pharmaceuticals. Inovio Pharmaceuticals operates its business through a number of subsidiaries, including Geneos Therapeutics, Inc., Genetronics Inc, Inovio AS, VGX Pharmaceuticals, LLC and INOVIO Asia, LLC.
