Nasdaq, Inc. is an American multinational financial corporation based in New York City. Founded in 1971, the firm owns and operates the Nasdaq stock market in the United States as well as several European stock exchanges. The organisation operates in 25 markets, one clearing house, and five central securities depositories in the US and Europe. Nasdaq Inc offers services to a worldwide audience, including trading, clearing and regulatory services, securities listing, analysis, investing tools and guides and exchange technology.

The corporation is listed on the NASDAQ GS where it trades under the ticker NDAQ. In December 2020 the NDAQ price chart showed a 52 week high of $139.50 and a 52 week low of $71.66, with a dividend yield of 1.58%.

The National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD) was a regulatory organisation that was originally responsible for oversight of the securities industry, including the NASDAQ. In 2000 a restricted number of shares of NASDAQ were initially sold by the NASD through a private placement offering. By 2002 shares began trading publicly on the OTC Bulletin Board under the symbol NDAQ, and in 2005 NASDAQ listed its shares on the NASDAQ GS with an offering of secondary shares at $9 per share.
