Pampa Energia S.A. is a South American integrated electricity company based in Buenos Aires Argentina. The firm is engaged in the generation, transmission and distribution of electricity in Argentina and is the largest independent energy company in the country, operating business segments which include generation, transmission, distribution, oil and gas, and holding and others. The company was founded in its current form in 2005, when Grupo Emes (previously known as Grupo Dolphin) acquired Frigorifico Pampa S.A. The firm was renamed Pampa Holding S.A. and then changed to Pampa Energia S.A. The firm generates electricity from 4,970 MW, primarily using renewable energy assets, combining thermal and hydroelectric power plants, as well as wind farms. The company is engaged in power transmission through the co-control of Transener, which operates 85% of the high voltage transmission lines of the country. The company owns three major wind farms in Argentina launched in 2018 and 2019, along with major thermal power plants. The company’s distribution segment includes an indirect equity interest in Electricidad Argentina S.A. and Empresa Distribuidora y Comercializadora Norte S.A.
