What Is SBA Communications Corporation?
SBA Communications Corporation is a real estate investment trust (REIT) which owns and operates wireless infrastructure projects in the United States, Canada, Central America, South America, and South Africa. The firm essentially assists wireless service providers in developing their networks through site acquisition, zoning, construction and equipment installation. The firm was founded in 1989 and is headquartered in Boca Raton, Florida.

The type of infrastructure acquired, owned and operated by the company includes towers, buildings, rooftops, distributed antenna systems (DAS) and small cells. The firm’s business operations include leasing antenna space on multi-tenant towers and buildings, on long-term leases, to companies engaged in the provision of wireless services. The firm has numerous operations and offices across fourteen distinct markets throughout the Americas and internationally, with a presence in Brazil, Argentina, Costa Rica, Canada and South Africa.

As of 2021 the firm owns around 33,000 towers. The company also offers consulting and construction services, with its construction activities including the development of construction sites for new towers. The company is an S&P 500 company and is listed on the NASDAQ where it trades under the stock ticker SBAC.
