Operating globally, Tesla Motors Inc. is a sustainable energy technology that specialises in designing and manufacturing electric cars, as well as manufacturing energy capture and storage systems, from batteries to solar panels. The company was founded in 2003 by a group of Silicon Valley entrepreneurs, and its headquarters are located in San Francisco. Tesla employs over 70,000 people.

Tesla produces a series of electric vehicles, including the Model 3 and the Model S, both four-door sedans; as well as the Model Y and Model S, which are SUVs. The company aims to make its vehicles increasingly affordable and accessible to a wider market. Tesla vehicles are sold through the company’s network of owned and operated showrooms. The company also operates a vehicle leasing scheme. Tesla supplies premium-quality components to other electric car manufacturers, and it has a series of patents on the parts it produces. Tesla’s energy storage range for the home includes Powerpack, Megapack, and Powerwall.

Tesla Motors Inc. is listed on the NASDAQ with the stock ticker TSLA. In 2021, Tesla acquired SilLion, a battery startup based in Colorado. In addition to winning multiple awards for its electric vehicles, Tesla has won a range of awards for other aspects of its business, including for its communications and for its website.
