The Vanguard Financials ETF seeks to replicate the performance of the MSCI US Investable Market Index (IMI)/Financials 25/50. This index comprises stocks of large, medium, and small US-based companies within the financial sector and which are classified under the Global Industry Classification Standard (GICS). The fund was launched in 2004 and is domiciled in the United States. The Vanguard Group, which was founded in 1975 and headquartered in Malvern, Pennsylvania, manages this ETF. The company operates internationally and offers a variety of financial investment products, including bonds, stocks, ETFs, and mutual funds

The fund uses an indexing investment approach to track the performance of the MSCI US Investable Market Index (IMI)/Financials 25/50. As such, all, or mostly all, assets are invested in stocks making up this index. This ETF holds the stocks in approximately the same proportion as the weightings on the mentioned index.

The majority of the stocks are held in the United States with minor interests in Europe, the United Kingdom, Latin America, and emerging Asia. The Vanguard Financials ETF, which uses US dollars as base currency, focuses most of its investments on the financial services sector. The top five holdings in the fund’s portfolio are JPMorgan Chase and Co., Bank of America Corp., Wells Fargo & Co., Berkshire Hathaway Inc., and Morgan Stanley. This fund trades on the NYSE under the VFH stock ticker.
