Sika won the Swiss Technology Award 2019 in the "Innovation Leaders" category, thanks to its new technology used in lightweight construction in the field of transportation. That same year, the company announced that it is starting to operate a new mortar plant at its existing site in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, which will help Sika expand its portfolio of locally manufactured products.

Sika’s research activities are carried out by more than 900 employees at 20 global technology centres, 44 local and 20 regional research and development facilities.
