Role Summary

This role is responsible for safeguarding the platform against credit abuse, chargeback exploitation, refund fraud, fraud rings, and procedural vulnerabilities. As the Fraud Subject Matter Expert, you will collaborate cross-functionally to design controls, validate alerts, guide complex investigations, improve operational processes, and strengthen fraud readiness.

The ideal candidate will combine fraud knowledge with excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills. They should also have a positive and proactive attitude toward AI and automation, with the ability to use AI tools to improve investigations, reporting, and daily workflows.

What will you be doing?

  •  Monitor daily alert volumes each morning and investigate spikes or unusual patterns in the fraud (trading) queue.
  • Own escalation handling for difficult cases first-line agents can't resolve, working both within the team and up to second-line compliance.
  • Take technical specifications and evolving requirements from the wider Financial Crime function and translate them into working practice.
  • Represent the team in bi-weekly global AMLCO syncs, escalating unresolved procedural questions to the MLRO/AMLCO depending on jurisdiction.
  • Validate that fraud alerts trigger correctly through the Optimized-to-back-office migration, running tests as needed.
  • Act as point of contact on stakeholder meetings and requirement discussions outside the immediate team.
  • Coordinate with peer SMEs on AML, crypto, and card-fraud domains where alert ownership can overlap (e.g. hacked/stolen account cases).

Requirements

  • Ideal role for someone with 2-3 years of experience in investigations, complex case-handling, operational analytics or similar.
  • Strong analytical, technical problem-solving mindset.
  • Comfortable working independently, owning open-ended escalations without a fixed task list.
  • Able to communicate clearly with non-technical stakeholders including compliance officers and MLROs.
  • Ability to work with various transactions monitoring, data analysis and A.I tools to automate processes.
  • Genuine interest in the fraud/financial-crime domain.

Our Hiring Philosophy:

At eToro, AI is changing how we build, work and make decisions, and our hiring approach reflects that. We are building an AI-first organisation where people are encouraged to use AI thoughtfully.

That starts with how we hire. Throughout our recruitment process, we may use AI-enabled tools, including interview notetakers and other technologies that help us capture information accurately, improve consistency and create a better experience for candidates and interviewers. These tools support our feedback and assessment outcomes. Hiring decisions remain grounded in running fair and consistent interview processes, human judgement, critical thinking, and thorough evaluation of experience, ability and motivation that are aligned to our business and role requirements.

We also want candidates to be comfortable working with AI. Depending on the role, we may explore how you use AI tools in your day-to-day work, how you think about their opportunities and limitations, and how you would contribute to eToro’s continued AI build-out.

For us, being AI-first is not about replacing human judgement. It is about combining human expertise, creativity and accountability with technology that helps us do our best work and accelerate our growth. In the end, that's what we're hiring for: human insight, supercharged by AI.
