Amcor PLC specialises in the manufacture and production of packaging materials. It makes flexible packaging, boxes, cartons and specialised containers for the food and drinks industry. It also provides packaging for pharmaceuticals, pet care products and home care items. Amcor was founded in 1860 and has its headquarters in Zurich, but it carries out most of its business activities in the UK. As of 2022, Amcor was active in over 40 countries, with 225 sites.
Amcor PLC’s history began in 1860 when Samuel Ramsden, the company’s forebearer, established Victoria’s first paper mill in Melbourne. The company is divided into two different sections, Flexibles and Rigid Packaging, providing flexible and film packaging products, as well as rigid container solutions respectively.
Amcor PLC was the first packaging company to pledge to make all of its product designs and packaging 100% recycled, composted, or reused by 2025. As of 2022 it employed approximately 46,000 people. Its international assets include Plastics Moulders Ltd in Canada, Qite in China and the South American packaging market leader Alusa. The company trades on the ASX, under the ticker AMC.
