Comerica Inc Incorporated is a financial services company first founded in 1849 as Detroit Savings Fund Institute. After several name changes and organisational changes, it became a holding company called Detroitbank Corporation in 1973, before changing its name to Comerica Incorporated in 1982. It is headquartered in Dallas, Texas, with a strong presence in California, Michigan, Arizona, and Boca Raton, Florida. Select businesses operate in other states, Canada, and Mexico.
The company operates three business segments: commercial banking, retail banking, and wealth management. Its commercial banking segment caters to businesses of all sizes with a wide range of corporate financial services. Comerica offers several retail banking products that include checking and savings accounts, debit and credit cards, home equity loans, and home insurance. Its wealth management segment attends to the financial needs of its high-net-worth clients and offers services such as institutional investments.
As of December 2021, Comerica manages over 500 banking centres and about 8,000 employees. It is one of the 25 largest financial holding companies in the US, with the highest concentration of commercial and industrial (C&I) loans. Its assets total $94.5bn. Comerica trades on the NYSE with the ticker CMA.
