California Resources Corporation is an independent oil and natural gas company headquartered in Los Angeles, California. The firm has a large portfolio of lower-risk conventional opportunities in each of California’s four major oil and gas basins: San Joaquin, Los Angeles, Ventura, and Sacramento. The firm has been in operation since 2014.
The company has proved reserves of nearly 645 million barrels of oil equivalent and average daily production of some 128,000 barrels of oil equivalent. The firm has some of the lowest carbon intensity production in the US, with a strong focus on maximizing the value of its land, mineral and technical resources for decarbonization. The company is involved in the development of carbon capture and storage and other projects with the aim of reducing emissions.
The company is the largest privately held mineral acreage holder in California and was holding approximately 2.1 million net mineral acres at the end of 2020. In November 2021, the company adopted a 2045 Full-Scope Net Zero goal for Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions. The firm is listed on the NYSE where it trades under the ticker CRC.
