With more than 500 events and 10,000 conferences around the world annually, Informa is one of the largest events and publishing companies in the world. Based in London, Informa was founded in 1998 as the result of a merger between IBC Group plc. and LLP Group plc. However, despite its relatively short history, the company’s oldest asset, the magazine publication, Lloyd’s List, was founded in 1734. Informa has a complicated corporate structure with the company paying taxes in Switzerland, but incorporated in Jersey. Informa employs thousands of people in over 40 countries.
Informa, traded as INF.L on the London Stock Exchange, went public in 2014. In addition to its London listing, the company is also part of the FTSE 100 Index, comprised of the 100 companies on the London Stock Exchange with the highest market capitalisation.
Informa is comprised of numerous properties, due to constant expansion through mergers and acquisitions. Most notable include Fan Expo, Lloyd’s List, Routledge, Taylor & Francis, Dallas Comic Con, Mega Con, and UBM. Informa purchased UBM in 2018 for a total of £3.9 billion.
