The firm was originally founded in 1898 as the Hansung Electric Company, later becoming the Korea Electric Power Corporation in 1982. It is engaged in the generation, distribution, and delivery of electricity throughout the country, along with the development of power resources and facilities using both traditional and renewable energy sources. It is the largest electric utility company in South Korea.
