Louisiana-Pacific Corporation is an American producer of construction materials. Operating internationally, it was established in 1973 and is headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee. LP pioneered the manufacture of oriented strand board panels in the United States. The firm then revolutionised the market by developing and manufacturing alternatives to plywood and solid wood construction goods using tiny, fast-growing trees rather than old-growth timber.
The company's four segments include Siding, Oriented Strand Board (OSB), Engineered Wood Products (EWP), and South America. LP mainly supplies its products to retailers, wholesalers, and homebuilding and industrial enterprises across North and South America, as well as Asia, Australia, and Europe. Distributors of building materials, dealers in construction supplies, and retail home centres sell these items to contractors, builders, and homeowners. LP owns and operates 25 facilities in the US, Canada, Chile, and Brazil. Its wide product and accessory range includes the LP Structural Solutions portfolio (LP WeatherLogic® Air & Water Barrier, LP Legacy® Premium Sub-Flooring, LP® SmartSide® Trim & Siding, LP® Outdoor Building Solutions®, and LP Elements®).
Louisiana-Pacific Corporation is publicly listed on NYSE under the ticker LPX. In October 2021, the company announced the first-ever Environmental Product Declaration for LP® SmartSide® Trim & Siding (EPD). The product retains more carbon than it emits during its manufacture and distribution, making it one of the few carbon-negative siding solutions available.
