Soitec produces and designs semiconductor materials for clients around the world. The company's products are used to manufacture chips for tablets, computers, phones, IT servers and data centres, in addition to electronic components that are used in connected devices, cars, medical and industrial equipment. Incorporated in 1992, the company has its headquarters in Bernin, France.

Soitec offers silicon-on-insulator (SOI) wafers for connectivity and processor system on chips (SoCs), including fully depleted SOI, partially depleted SOI and FinFET products. SOI wafers are also available for manufacturing smart power ICs, in addition to a range of other applications. These include high-speed optical transceivers in data centres, as well as enhanced performance of next-generation 3D cameras. The company also offers gallium nitride epitaxial wafers to serve the needs of 5G RF cellular networks, smart sensor systems and consumer power supplies.

In November 2021, Soitec announced the acquisition of NOVASiC, a specialist in polishing and reclaiming wafers on silicon carbide. The acquisition is expected to strengthen the company’s silicon carbide technology. Available on the EN Paris stock exchange, the company is listed under the ticker SOI.PA. Stock for the company has been available on the exchange since December 1998.
