About Air France-KLM
Air France-KLM was created from a merger between Dutch airliner KLM and Air France in 2004 The following year, the merger was expanded to include the air cargo operations of both carriers. Air France-KLM’s headquarters is located in Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris, considered one of its hubs. The other hub is located in Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam. The airline owns several minority stakes in other airlines, including Kenya Airways and Alitalia.
Air France-KLM trades on the Euronext Paris, with the symbol AF.PA. It is also part of the CAC Next 20, an index comprised of the 20 largest companies on the Euronext Paris or Euronext Amsterdam that are not in the CAC 40. Promptly after their highly publicised merger, Air France-KLM launched a new IPO on the Euronext and the New York Stock Exchange. This caused Air France to transition into the private sector, as the French government divested most of its shares in the airline.
While Air France-KLM has experienced some significant highs and lows throughout its long history, overall accomplishments cannot be ignored. Several years after its 2004 merger, Air France-KLM was the largest airline in the world and considered one of the safest. It has a massive fleet of over 500 airplanes.
