BE Semiconductor Industries NV (BESI.NV) is a Dutch designer and manufacturer of semiconductor equipment under the brand ‘Besi.’ The company is publicly listed on the Amsterdam Euronext stock exchange. Founded by CEO, Richard Blickman in 1995, Besi is based in Duiven, The Netherlands, with manufacturing carried out through outsourced subsidiaries in China and Malaysia. The company hit the news in 2019 after 700 confidential documents were reportedly stolen by a Chinese industrial spy arrested by the Swiss authorities.
BE Semiconductor Industries’ core business is the development of cutting edge assembly processes and equipment designed for lead frame, substrate and wafer level packaging applications in a wide range of end-user markets, including electronics, mobile Internet, cloud server, computing, automotive, industrial, LED and solar energy.
The company’s brand names include Datacon, Esec, Fico and Meco. In addition to its Duiven base in the Netherlands, Besi has subsidiaries in Austria, Singapore and Switzerland. Besi listed on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange in 2000.
