BHP Group Ltd is an international resource company headquartered in Melbourne, Australia. The (BHP) Broken Hill Proprietary Company Limited was incorporated in 1985. The company is engaged in operations in the mineral exploration sector, mining coal, iron ore, gold, titanium and nickel, as well as petroleum production.

As a global business, BHP lists 80,000 staff and contractors in 2022 in Australia and the Americas on the payroll. Their products are sold worldwide, and BHP operates as a dual-listed company: BHP Group Limited and BHP Group Plc. However, the business is a single economic entity and is managed by a unified Board. As well as engaging in mineral exploration, the company also supplies a number of services. These services include marketing, towing, trading, marketing support, finance, administrative and freight.

Because the company competes in the cyclical energy and mining sector, BHP shares are also traded on the NYSE and London Stock Exchange. In 1998, after a four-year project, the alliance between BHP and London-based Billiton was completed. After numerous mergers, BHP emerged as the current successful operation. BHP Group trades on the ASX under the ticker BHP.
