Oesterreichische Post AG is the firm responsible for the Austrian postal service. The company was established in 1999, splitting from the former state-owned agency Post-und-Telegraphenverwaltung. Headquartered in Vienna, Austria, it is now a public company, responsible for mail and parcel delivery and the operation of post offices throughout Austria.
The firm is listed on the Vienna Stock Exchange and trades with the ticker POST. In December 2020 the POST price chart was showing a 52 week high of €35.60 and a 52 week low of €26.40 with a market cap of €1.942bn. The company pays a dividend and states that an attractive dividend policy is one of the cornerstones of the firm’s corporate philosophy. This is reflected in the fact that a minimum of 75% of net profit is earmarked annually to be returned to shareholders.
Like many postal services worldwide, the firm is beginning to shift focus away from traditional and direct mail to parcel delivery, and announced in 2020 that parcel growth was offsetting declines in other types of mail. In 2020, the company increased its financial interest in the leading Turkish parcel service provider Aras Kargo, and now holds 80% of the shares in that organisation.
