iShares Russell 2000 Value ETF was founded in 2000 and is managed by the investment management group BlackRock Inc. The ETF tracks the Russell 2000 index of small-capitalisation US domestic companies that stand out as value stocks. The base currency is USD, and the ETF is focussed specifically on the United States market.
The Russell 2000 index is composed of approximately 2000 small-cap US firms. The fund selects stocks from this index to create a portfolio of value stocks that it believes best represent the US small-cap equity space. While similar value funds tend to use lots of varied metrics to identify which stocks to include, this fund uses price-to-book metrics only and is renewed annually.
The ETF invests at least 90% of its assets in securities and depositary receipts of the Russell 2000 index and may invest up to 10% in futures, options, swap contracts, cash, cash equivalents, and securities that are not included in the index but could help in tracking the assets within the index. iShares Russell 2000 Value ETF is listed on the NYSE under the ticker IWN.
