Juventus Football Club is one of the most successful and prestigious football teams in history. Founded in 1897, the Turin-based team is the second oldest in Italy. The team has the largest fanbase in the country and one of the biggest in all of Europe. Juventus was one of the first football teams in the world to be publicly traded, listed on the Milan Stock Exchange in 2001, with the ticker symbol JUVE.MI.
The Juventus IPO was valued at up to €437 million, with shares between €3.50 and €4.20. The club proclaimed that the reasoning behind the IPO was for off-field activities, rather than player transfers and wages.
Oddly enough, the giant Juventus owes its uniform origin to the small English club, Notts County. When the team was looking to replace its pink uniforms, they asked one of their English players to provide some alternatives. The player offered the black and white of Notts County, and the rest is history. The team has played in its easily recognisable zebra colours ever since. Juventus has always played in Italy’s top football division, except for the 2006 season, when the club was relegated for the now infamous match-fixing scandal.
