A British company with a long and storied history, Mercantile Investment Trust plc was founded in 1884 and was previously known as JP Morgan Fleming Mercantile Investment Trust. The business functions as an investment trust, targeting small and medium-sized businesses. Mercantile Investment Trust publicly states that its goal is to provide investors with quarterly returns that meet current inflation rates, at a bare minimum. Also, the company aims to provide its clients with a geared cash rate of 10% net cash to 20% geared cash. Geared cash refers to the level of a company’s debate, relative to its total equity.

Mercantile Investment Trust is listed on the London Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol, MRC. The company’s stock is also part of the FTSE 250, FTSE All-Share, FTSE 350, and FTSE 350 LowYield indices. The MRC IPO took place back in 1952.
