The firm is has its corporate headquarters in Boise, Idaho and has been in operation since 1978. Micron Technology operates in locations around the globe, with offices in China, Japan, Malaysia, Italy and the UK.

Its consumer products are marketed under the brands Micron, Crucial and Ballistix, as well as private labels. The firm’s memory and storage solutions have enabled key advances in artificial intelligence, 5G, machine learning, and autonomous vehicles. The firm has grown through strategic acquisitions and partnerships over the years, having acquired Texas Instruments’ worldwide memory operation in 1998, Toshiba’s commodity DRAM operations at Dominion Semiconductor LLC in 2002, and Lexar Media in 2006.

The firm set up the Micron Foundation in 1999 to advance STEM education and support local communities. The company is a Fortune 500 company, and trades on the NASDAQ stock exchange, where it is listed under the stock ticker MU.
