Formerly known as NextEV Inc., the company changed its name to Nio, Inc. in July 2017. Along with its automobile development and manufacturing activities, Nio offers a clothing line, service centres, and battery swap stations.

In addition to its other products and services, the company offers various value-added services, including car damage, liability, and third-party liability insurance through third-party insurers, repair and routine maintenance services, and roadside assistance. Nio has the financial backing of several high-profile investors, including Lenovo, Baidu, and TPG.
