What Is Suncor Energy Inc.?
Suncor Energy Inc. is a Canadian integrated energy company based in Calgary, Alberta. The firm is primarily focused on the commercial development of petroleum resource basins, which are found in Canada's oil sands, specialising in the production of synthetic crude oil from oil sands. The company operates in Canada and internationally. The firm can trace its history back to 1917 when the Sun Company started conducting business in Canada.

The firm also has an exploration and production business segment, responsible for upstream oil and gas activities, with assets and investments on the East Coast of Canada, in Norway, the United Kingdom and in other international locations. The company has four refineries in the USA and Canada, processing oil sands crude into refined products.

Suncor Energy has an interest in renewable energy as well, with four wind power facilities operating across Canada, as well as other low carbon, renewable fuel projects. The company owns Petro-Canada, which runs over 1,800 retail and wholesale fuel outlets across Canada, supplying a wide variety of fuel and service offerings, including low-carbon fuel options. The firm trades on the NYSE under the stock ticker SU.
