It operates as a global domain name registry services and Internet security company, involved in the management and protection of the Domain Name Server (DNS) infrastructure for over millions of .com and .net domain names.
The firm’s unique, proprietary DNS registration and resolution infrastructure is a purpose-built network of hardware and specialized software, distributed globally across hundreds of points of presence. The company operates two of the world's 13 root zone servers, which assign internet protocol (IP) addresses to internet-connected devices.
