Petco Health and Wellness is an American retailer offering a range of pets and pet products with headquarters in San Diego, California. Founded in 1965, Petco operates over 1500 stores throughout the United States and Central America, which includes their network of in-store veterinary hospitals.

Petco offer an online resource for pet health and wellness at petco.com and on the Petco app. Through their network of stores, the company sells pet food, pet supplies, small animals and fish. Petco also owns PetInsuranceQuotes.com, a pet insurance comparison website, and PetCoach, a web service and app offering pet advice.

Stock for Petco is listed on the NASDAQ stock exchange under the ticker WOOF. The company’s stock has been listed on this exchange since its IPO in January 2021. In March 2022, Petco became the first pet retailer to be awarded the American Humane Certified Seal of Approval. The seal was awarded following independent assessments of the care and wellbeing of the animals Petco offers for sale. On 3 March 2022, Petco announced the purchase of its partner’s 50% stake in the parties’ veterinary hospitals. Petco will transition the Thrive locations to its Vetco Total Care hospital branding.
