The company has its headquarters located in Atlanta, Georgia. Founded in 1967, Global Payments provides processing capabilities for debit, credit, electronic benefits transfer (EBT), and major card types globally.

Global Payments offers clients a complete package of payment technology and software services facilitating transactions for more than 3 million businesses around the world. Global Payments has a partnership with Google to provide financial technology services for its 3 billion annual transactions and is working to transfer its services to Google Cloud. The partnership will also see Global Payments integrate Google suite software to enable merchants to grow their businesses. In addition, Global Payments also has a partnership with Citi to fast-track Citi digital payments.

Global Payments is publicly listed on the NYSE under the ticker GPN. As of 2020, Global Payments achieved a revenue increase of 51%, totalling $7.4bn as a result of increased cashless transactions during the Covid-19 pandemic. As of 2021, Global Payments is a Fortune 500 company.
