First Hawaiian Inc is an American bank holding company with its headquarters in Honolulu, Hawaii. Its main subsidiary is First Hawaiian Bank, which is one of the state’s oldest and largest financial institutions. Originally founded in 1858 by Charles R. Bishop and William A. Aldrich under the name Bishop & Co, the bank’s name was changed to First Hawaiian Bank in 1969. The firm has more than 50 branches, predominantly across the Hawaiian Islands, but also in Guam and Saipan.
The firm offers personal and business banking services to a wide range of customers. Products for private clients include checking and saving accounts, mortgages, loans, auto financing, credit cards and wealth management. The bank also provides a range of services for business clients in the region, such as business loans and lines of credit, leasing and commercial real estate loans, as well as business solutions including employee benefits management, payroll services and treasury management.
The bank is structured to operate through three main segments, namely Retail Banking, Commercial Banking, and Treasury and Other. The firm trades on the NASDAQ GS, where it is listed under the stock ticker FHB.
